Do the Pokey-Pokey

Ooooh, how I love to learn a new thing!! I finished the 180-row handle (yikes) of the Smart Summer Project, seamed it up and threw it in the washer. Here it is in its post-felted, pre-embellished state:

I then read the little information sheet that came with the needle-felting kit, and off I went! Here is a shot of it, mid-poke:

It's funny - you pull off a strand of roving and sort of tack it down in a reasonable facsimile of the design you want. It looks all puffy and wrong and you think, "Oh no! It will never be as neat as the rest of the design!!" and then you poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, and finally it looks the way you want. And, let me tell you, it is FUN! I feel possessed by needle-felting now, looking wild-eyed around my house for something else to embellish!!

Here is the finished product:

Isn't it wicked cool?? I lurve Two Old Bags patterns. This is the third bag I've made of theirs - the Double-Handled Project Bag, which was a Knit-Along at the Tangled Web, the Lucy Bag, and now this.

For the record, I did not stab myself, though I must say the needles look lethal. Now off to find felted things to embellish! poke poke poke poke poke poke.....

Happy Fourth!

The Divine DJ,
Looks fabulous, girlfriend. Might we see this as a Knit-along project?
Hoping you say yes!
XOXO
