Well, here's the beautiful Momogus Knits Adult Basic Cable Cap:

It's all great and everything, except that it didn't even come close to fitting on my head. I would have chalked that up to my enormous Welsh blockhead, but it didn't even come close to fitting on GUS's head! I must have had some sort of gauge-related brain seizure because it's a full 4" smaller than I intended. Well, I can use it in the picture of the Child's Basic Cable Cap. Back to the old drawing board.

Sister Laura and Gus and I went to IKEA on Monday to pick up some furniture for Laura's Apartment of Denial. That is, the apartment exists, and is quite nice I hear, but I am in denial that Laura is actually going to move. I don't have to deal with it for another 7 days, so for now I will pretend that it was just a harmless shopping expedition. IKEA is fun!

Gus helped Aunt Laura find stuff in the cavernous aisles and then was rewarded by lunch at (cue heavenly choir)....

...Appleby's, his favorite place to eat on the planet. He cracks me up.

In case you were wondering, here is the current status of Operation Kittens:
Case #1 - Unnamed Calico

PLACED! Adopted by Marjorie - Now known as "Tiki"

Case #2 - Nuts

PLACED! Adopted by Family Momogus - Now known as "Nuts" or [Matthew's genius moment one morning] "Nutter Butter Peanut Butter Sandwich Kitten!"

Case #3 - Beady

PLACED! Adopted by Family Momogus - Now known as "Sweet Caroline" or "Caroline"

Case #4 - Orange Creme

PLACED! Adopted by Deb - Now known as "Mike" (though this changes daily)

Case #5 - Alan Possum-Face

STATUS UNKNOWN! I am worried. We were all set to catch him this past weekend. I even had a prospective mother lined up, but he never showed. I haven't seen him for two days, though Smokee still appears like clockwork for her meals. This morning, even Mr. Smokee showed up to sit decorously on the pitcher's mound and wait for Smokee to have her breakfast. Then they went off together. Where is Alan? The only possibility I will allow myself to think is that some other family has captured him. I will entertain NO OTHER NOTION, hear me?! I whipped myself up into a sobbing fit yesterday while doing the dishes replaying his happy times with his siblings under the wisteria and then hanging out with his Mom and then imagining his horrible gruesome death at the hands of her jealous boyfriend. I finally had to call Laura to talk me off the ledge. Matthew thinks he will show up eventually, but I'm not so sure.

Happy Fourth! USA! USA! USA!

I think she's only faking about the move.....it's all a joke. But she really does go to great lengths to fool us, doesn't she?!?!
