In order to distract you from the havoc I've wreaked with America's pasttime, here is a photo-essay of what happened when I came home from work the other day.

I pulled up in the car and Matthew and Gus were in the front yard. They gestured wildly to me and said, "Come here! But walk slowly!" So I did and saw that there were 3 tiny squirrels in the yard, thus:
As soon as I appeared they all came running over, like "Finally! Mom's home!"

Cute!, I thought:

"C'mon, sis, it's Mom!!"

Then, I guess they thought, "It's Mom [or a tree]! Let's climb her!"
At this point, I am like, "Nyaaaagggghhhh!" but they were moving so fast and I was so afraid of kicking them or squishing them that I couldn't move.

But then:
NOT acceptable!! NOT acceptable!! I started screaming, "GET A STICK! GET A STICK!" and finally Matthew got a stick and pried them off.

What was up with that?? Crazy little squirrels. We finally went inside and they disappeared. The end.

That is one of the cutest/weirdest thing I've ever seen.

You know Owain's head would have exploded, "The. squirrels. are. ALL! OVER! HER!!!! BARK! BARK! BARK! Kablooey!!"

Hey, squirrels don't climb on people. Do they? I thought they ran away from people. Have you been putting some sort of strange stuff in their food? Whew!

I hope you've learned your lesson that squirrels aren't all that cute when they get up close and personal. Years ago, walking across the University of Washington campus, a squirrel attached itself to my future husband's finger and wouldn't let go. Taylor had to swing his arm around in circles to detach the little bugger. You watch ouy, and be careful of the "cute" critters.
