I've got to get myself organized and do a nice post about knitting and stuff. But that day is not today.

Here's something that always drives me CRAZY this time of year: leaf-blowers. Now I'm not some wild-eyed environmentalist or anything, but when I see perfectly healthy young men using leaf blowers it makes me want to get some dynamite and blow them (the leaf-blowers, not the men) up. I grew up in a house surrounded by a billion trees, and I live in a house now that is surrounded by trees that dump approximately 14,000 leaf bags-worth of leaves every fall. And I rake them up!! If you are over the age of say, 60, then okay. But other than that, pick up a goddamn rake!!! Today I was driving to pick Gus up at school and saw a man smoking a pipe and using a leaf-blower. What?! And it was a kooky Sherlock Holmes-type pipe! I almost drove up on the curb and took him out.

I must go get a cold compress for my head now.

Hey, I raked leaves until I was 71! They were from those billion trees you referred to. I must say I don't miss raking, now that we have a condo association to take care of them, but I think I always felt a little smug pride in wielding my rake and not a noisy (and environmentally unsound) leaf-blower. I figure all those leaf-blowers are partially responsible for the poor polar bears whose ice is all melted (the leaf-blowers and George Bush). So there!

I like this new, cranky version of you. Very entertaining.

gg - you said it! you are allowed to rest now that you raked up approximately 35 billion leaves in your lifetime.

ks - The leafblowers bring out the cranky in me. Especially when wielded by not-old men smoking ridiculous fancypants Sherlock Holmes pipes.

smoking a pipe?!? can that be somehow hazardous within that entire activity? couldn't some leaves catch fire or something? ugh....people are stupid. you get that compress and i will wait for the knitting to come back. i know for awhile the Phils totally took over this blog lol.
